Candidates will be selected based on the performance in preliminary exam, main exam and personal interview. Preliminary examination is only qualifying examination for mains and interview. Candidates who want to appear in preliminary and main examination should have to know the examination syllabus and pattern.
KPSC Gazetted Probationers preliminary Exam syllabus and Pattern:
Preliminary examination papers comprise 2 parts with 100 multiple choice questions in each part. Each question carry 2 marks so each part carries 200 marks. Part 1 questions ask from current affairs, humanities, world geography and Indian polity and economy. Part 2 question covers questions from the topics of Current events of State importance and important State Government programmers, General science and technology and General mental ability.

KPSC Gazetted Probationers main Exam syllabus and Pattern:
Makin examination is descriptive type examination. in this main examination first two papers are qualifying papers that are Kannda and English. Then the compulsory papers are Essay, General studies 1, 2 ,3 & 4, optional subject 1 and optional subject 2. Each papers carries 250 marks and each paper has 180 minutes time duration. Candidates should have chosen optional subjects from the list of subjects.
Personal interview test is for successful candidates in written examination.
